Controlled Burn Closes Hillsborough County Roads

A combination of smoke and fog from a controlled burn on Wednesday has caused the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office to close some highways.

Police say Balm Road from Highway 39 to Balm Boyette Road in Wimauma is closed. The road will be reopened as soon as it becomes safe for travel.

Motorists should use alternate routes and avoid the area. School bus routes along that area could be affected. Hillsborough County Schools have been notified.

Update: All roads have reopened.
