Congress Approval Rating Near Record Low

When it comes to how America views Congress, there’s really nowhere to go but up. The job-approval rating for congress this year averaged 15%, according the Gallup Poll, just one percentage point off the record low average set last year.

Nearly six in 10 Americans once approved of the way Congress did its job – but that was back in 2001. And as the holiday recess fast approaches for Congress, Senate Democrats are pushing through nearly two dozen of President Obama’s nominees in their final days in the majority.

Among the nominees, Dr. Vivek Murthy, who if confirmed would be the youngest appointed Surgeon General and the first of Indian descent.
