Authorities confirm Monday that the body of a child found in a freezer at a Bradenton home is that of 11 year old Janiya Thomas.
The child has not been seen in more than a year.
Janiya’s mother Keishanna remains in jail on abuse of a corpse charges.
Police continue to try and determine how Janiya died.
It took more than a week to confirm the identity of the body because standard autopsy procedures were not adequate.
DNA testing, which takes longer, had to be done.
