Commissioners Say Yes to Chickens

Chickens are now allowed in unincorporated areas of Pinellas County.

Pinellas County commissioners voted yes, 5 to 2, to an ordinance allowing unincorporated area residents to raise up to four hens in backyard coops, but they say no to raising roosters and other fowl.

Advocates said chickens help with food and don’t make as much noise as people fear.
