Clearwater: Two Bike Riders Hit Minutes Apart on Same Street

A 13-year-old boy was hit by a car this morning as he and a friend were attempting to cross Drew Street, near North Glenwood Avenue with a friend just before 8:30 a.m.

The boy was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center where he was treated for non-lift threatening injuries.

There was no crosswalk where the boys attempted to cross, police said.

The friend nor the driver were injured in the collision.

There was another accident on Drew Street that happened less than half an hour earlier injuring an adult bicyclist.

It happened at Drew and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, at 8:05 a.m., police said.

The cyclist was not immediately identified, though the injuries did not appear life threatening, officials said.
