The victim, Anthony Owen Valentino of 301 N. Mars Ave. in Clearwater, was westbound on Overbrook Avenue at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his motorcycle.
He veered off the north side of the road and struck several items, including mailboxes and their posts. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Clearwater Fire & Rescue paramedics.
The accident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. The victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The road remains closed between Douglas Avenue and Betty Lane as the investigation continues.
