The city of Clearwater got a new mayor yesterday.
George Cretekos beat Christine Marketos-cuomo with 70.75 percent of the vote.
Cretekos is a current council-member, will be sworn in February 13th.
As mayor, Cretekos said his number one priority will be diversifying Clearwater’s economy.
Cretekos will replace current mayor Frank Hibbard, who is stepping down after nearly 10 years of service to the city of Clearwater because of term limits.
Hibbard has served as mayor for the last eight years. Before that he served on the city council.
Hibbard is said to remain involved in Clearwater and the Tampa Bay area, but it is not known in what capacity.
