Census: Floridians Are Poorer Than Three Years Ago

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The income of Floridians has dropped by more than 7 percent over the past three years.

Census data made public Thursday shows that the median household income of Floridians went from almost $48,000 in 2007 to more than $44,000 last year.

The economic downturn of the past three years has hit Florida harder than most parts of the country.

Nationally, the median household income declined by only about 1.3 percent. It went from $50,700 in 2007 to just over $50,000 last year.
