A car has reportedly driven off the side of a pier near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Dispatchers got the call at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials pulled a red Mercedes out from the water and confirmed one fatality. A bystander reported seeing the vehicle drive off of the pier.

According to an affidavit, 52-year-old Richard McCrocklin of Eustis drove off the pier and was completely submerged in the bay. Divers located McCrocklin and his car.

McCrocklin was pronounced dead at the scene.
