Camping Gear Stolen From 2 Boy Scout Troops In Same City

BILLINGS, Mont. — Thieves stole camping gear and a trailer worth more than $10,000 from two Boy Scout troops in the same Montana city over the past month.

Scoutmaster Rick Lindholm tells The Billings Gazette that a trailer and camping equipment were taken around Jan. 12 from a parking lot of the Billings Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He estimated the stolen items, including the trailer, were worth $7,000.

Shortly before Christmas, someone cut the lock on a trailer in the Elk’s Lodge parking lot in Billings and took camping equipment from another scout troop. Scoutmaster A.J. Vone estimates the loss at $3,200.

In both cases, the scout troops had raised money to buy the equipment, including tents, heaters and other gear.
