An apparent bomb hoax closed Sarasota Memorial Hospital and forced evacuations at surrounding businesses for two hours today.
The object found outside the hospital at the corner of U.S. 41 and Arlington Street turned out to be a bird feeder. But it had a plastic jug attached with fuses coming out of the top and wires coming out of the bottom.
Police are investigating who left it there and why.
