A Bay area woman was trying to save a bobcat that had been spotted in the middle of a busy six land highway in Riverview around 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
However, when she tried to rescue the cat, it bit her.
The bobcat was hurt and had been hit twice by oncoming traffic and suffered from severe back injuries.
The Bay area woman caught up with the bobcat and put a blanket over the animal and that’s when the bobcat bit her hand.
She had to be treated for minor injuries.
The animal was eventually caught and taken to Hillsborough County Animal Control where it was euthanized, partly because of severe back injuries and because it had to be tested for rabies.
Officials did not identify the woman.
