A Pasco County bicyclist was killed Monday morning when he rode into the path of a tractor-trailer.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Andrews Manuel Ortega, 43, of Land O’ Lakes, was riding north on the Suncoast Bike Trail when he rode into the path of a rock-hauler while trying to cross State Road 54.
The truck, driven by Patricia Helen Li, struck Ortega and killed him at the scene. Li was not injured.
The crash closed portions of State Road 54 for three hours earlier today and remains under investigation.
