A man has died after veering off the road in Bartow.
According to the Bartow Police Department, the crash happened at 12:28 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Highway 60 and Van Fleet Drive. At this time, it is not known what the driver, 61-year-old Gabriel Novales-Ramirez died of — a medical condition or injuries sustained in the crash.
Witnesses report seeing the driver slumped over at the wheel of the semi before the crash occurred.
Officers were called to the scene and upon arriving found Ramirez unconscious and performed CPR until medical units arrived. Ramirez was transported to the Bartow Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
The cause of the crash and fatality are still under investigation pending autopsy.
