Al-Qaeda Franchise In Yemen Threatens Execution Of American Hostage

Al-Qaeda’s franchise in Yemen is threatening an American hostage kidnapped over a year ago and the clock is ticking. Washington’s been given three days to meet unspecified demands in a new video. The hostage, 33-year-old Luke Somers, an American photojournalist born in Britain, is shown for the first time in the clip, on a Twitter account.

It comes weeks after an apparent unsuccessful attempt by U-S special forces to rescue Somers in a raid in the remote Yemeni desert that resulted in the rescue of several other hostages.

ABC’s Tom Rivers joined us Friday morning from London to discuss.
