Afghan President Seeks To Repair Damaged Relation With U.S.

The recently-elected President of Afghanistan visited the White House on Tuesday, and President Obama was waiting to grant him his request for a delay in the scheduled withdrawal of U.S. troops from his war-torn nation.

President Ashraf Ghani and other officials from Afghanistan’s new “unity government” also met with Obama as part of an effort to improve U.S.-Afghan relations that deteriorated under predecessor Hamid Karzai.
