70 Year Old Woman Arrested

Diana_Reaves_Costarakis_2013MIDDLEBURG, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville police say a 70-year-old woman is behind bars for attempting to hire someone to kill her daughter-in-law.

Duval County Jail records show Diana Reaves Costarakis of Middleburg is being held without bond on charges of criminal solicitation and criminal conspiracy. Her court date is Oct. 31st. It’s not immediately known if she has an attorney.

According to the sheriff’s office, Costarakis offered an undercover detective $5,000 to kill her daughter-in-law. She gave him $500 as the first payment as well as a photo of the woman, her address, and car description.

Costarakis gave the detective another $1,000 on Thursday. She told him to take the expensive jewelry her daughter-in-law wore and sell it, and to use that money towards the final payment.

She was later taken into custody.
