A little 5-year-old girl was struck and killed in a hit and run crash in Bradenton yesterday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol say the 5-year-old and a 15-year-old girl were crossing the street at U.S. 41 and 34th Avenue W in front of the Mira Lagos Apartments at 6 p.m. when a vehicle hit both of them.
The teen, Richecar Polinice, was rushed to Manatee Memorial Hospital and has serious injuries while the child, Kimora Samuel, was killed.
Officials said the driver who hit the children left the scene, driving south on U.S. 41 and two additional oncoming vehicles were unable to avoid the girls and also hit them. Those drivers did stop.
The car that left the scene was described as a 4-door, dark-colored vehicle, possibly dark blue or dark green and police are asking that anyone with information about this accident, please call the FHP at 941-751-7647, ext 100.
