CUTLER BAY, Fla. (AP) _ A man has been arrested after a fire broke out in a South Florida injuring two young children who had been left home alone.
Miami-Dade police say 31-year-old Andrew Richard Sepulveda has been charged with two counts of child neglect with great bodily harm.
The fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in a home where Sepulveda was supposed to have been watching the children, ages 4 and 6.
When Miami-Dade firefighters found the children, they were both in cardiac arrest.
They were airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s trauma center.
Police say they were in serious condition.
Investigators say it appears Sepulveda left the children alone while he ran errands.
Miami-Dade’s arson and vulnerable victims units are investigating.
No further details were immediately available.
