HAMILTON, Ohio — An early morning fire at a southwest Ohio home has killed three children and sent their parents and two other children to hospitals.
Deputy Chief Ken Runyan of the Hamilton Fire Department says the Friday fire killed a 7-year-old boy and two girls, ages 10 and 12. Firefighters used ladders to reach the second floor of the Hamilton home and found them there.
Runyan says their father was flown to a Cincinnati hospital after emergency responders found him trying to rescue the children. Runyan didn’t immediately have details about the extent of the man’s injuries.
Their mother and a 9-year-old boy were taken to a local hospital. A 2-year-old was sent with them, though it wasn’t clear whether that child was hurt.
Hamilton is about 20 miles north of Cincinnati.
