Two children were rescued from a house fire in Plant City and a man is in custody.
The Plant City Police Department says that they got a call Tuesday morning at 3:53 a.m. about a house fire located at 107 S. Maryland Avenue, just across the street from Marshall Middle School.
Details from the caller indicated that four people were inside at the time.
Upon police arrival,the garage and a portion of the residence were ablaze.
Crews made entry via the front door and rescued the two children. It was then learned that two adults were still inside. The children were not hurt.
AN officer went around the side of the house and located the two in a bedroom. A male was beating a female and was ordered to stop. The officer’s commands went ignored and he forced entry and took the man away.
This is an active investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
