VOLUSIA COUNTY — Visitors to the Volusia County coastline got a painful reminder that swimming in the ocean carries some risk.
A spokesperson for the county’s Beach Safety Ocean Rescue said more than 150 people were treated Saturday for jellyfish stings from Ormond Beach to New Smyrna Beach.
Friday, nearly 100 people were treated, as well.
The jellyfish are pushed in with the winds so they may be an issue until we get a shift in those winds along the coast.
A moderate rip current risk was also present.
