ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ More than 100 Orlando intersections were without power and traffic signals were not working after a severe thunderstorms swept through the area.
Orlando Police said downed branches and tree limbs are caused additional traffic jams.
Sunday’s storm brought torrential rain, hail and heavy winds across central Florida.
At on home on Shine Avenue tree limbs sliced through three bedrooms.
A short distance away, the winds brought a tree down into a family’s swimming pool.
The storms forced officials to postpone the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill and they forced officials at the Airshow in Titusville to move several performers up in their schedule.
The show ended just as the storms moved in and when they came, the strong winds overturned portable toilets, brought tents down and sent chairs flying.
In Cocoa, a tree fell on a home, trapping the owner but parmedics were able to get her out.
And a pilot landed at the Arthur Dunn Airpark in Titusville just as the wind and rain picked up. His single-engine plane was flipped over as he taxied to a hangar. Luckly the piolt wasn’t injured.
And one Orlando resident had a 50-foot oak tree smashed through the wall of his house.
