Ordinance would stop tethering dogs

Hillsborough county commisioners should vote on an anti-tethering ordiance today.

The ordinance has been under discussion for about two years and it would prohibit Hillsborough County dog owners from tying up their pets outside.

Some agrue that owners should be allowed to tie their pet outside for 30 minutes in an 8 hour period, which is similar to anti-leashing laws adopted elsewhere.

However, proponents are concerned that would make a new ordinance difficult to enforce.
