A 23-year-old man accused of stealing money from a store’s breast cancer awareness donation jar was arrested Thursday after he tried to steal another store’s tip jar, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 9:45 p.m., Lawrence Anthony Pino Jr stole the tip jar of the front counter at a Tijuana Flats restaurant on 11007 Causeway Boulevard.
An employee recognized the man from previous media reports and he followed Pino across Causeway Boulevard until deputies arrived and arrested him.
Deputies say Pino stole the breast cancer awareness donation jar from Jersey Mike’s Subs, 10951 Causeway Boulevard, on Sunday about 3:45 p.m. Surveillance video inside the store captured an unidentified man stealing the jar near the store’s cash registers. The media aired the video.
Pino admitted to taking the donation jar and then throwing it into a wooded area.
