NAPLES, Fla. (AP) — The founder of the Domino’s Pizza chain is opening a new restaurant — but instead of delivering pizzas, the new place will deliver hamburgers.
According to the Naples Daily news, Thomas Monaghan will soon open Gyrene Hamburger in downtown Naples. It’s a nickname for a Marine, thought to have come from a combination of “GI” and “Marine.”
There will be two hamburger choices, with each burger costing a little less than $6. No drinks, sides or seating will be available, and Monaghan says the goal will be to deliver the burgers in 15 minutes or less.
Monaghan also founded Ave Maria University in Collier County and is the chancellor of the school.
He hopes to open the hamburger restaurant in two months, just in time for peak tourist season.
