Flights out of area airports to begin today but check your airlines for times

Flights out of Tampa slowly return. St.Pete-Clearwater will be Wednesday

Welcome news to people trying to leave the area or those who want to get back to Florida after Hurricane Irma. Both area airports will reopen this morning. But we caution you to be sure to check your airlines before you head out to the airport.

Tampa International Airport officials said they planned to resume limited operations Tuesday with a gradual build-up to a full schedule in following days.

Meanwhile, St. Pete-Clearwater Airport announced it will reopen on Tuesday and resume flights on Wednesday. The airport closed Friday after Hurricane Irma was forecast to pass over Tampa Bay. It said while the building will open on Tuesday flights will resume on Wednesday.

Here is a list of airlines that fly out of both airports so you can get the latest on travel in or out of the area.
