SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) — Friends, fans and high-performance car enthusiasts are heading to a Los Angeles suburb for a memorial for “Fast & Furious” star Paul Walker, who died in a high-speed car crash in the area.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies are anticipating thousands of people at Sunday’s memorial. The actor died Nov. 30 after the Porsche Carrera GT he was riding in smashed into a light pole and tree and then burst into flames. Walker’s friend Roger Rodas, who was driving, also died.

Scores of people were milling around the area 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles hours before the memorial was to start at noon.

Many people are arriving in cars built for speed, and the sounds of engines revving are filling the air.

Authorities are urging people not to break any traffic laws.
