Step Aside House Of Cards, Here’s 5 New Netflix Original Must-Sees

Netflix’s Best New Offerings In 2015

By now, if you haven’t heard of House of Cards or Orange Is the New Black you’re literally and figuratively living under a rock. Netflix has been on a roll lately with the original content their churning out and what’s better than summer time releases? More binge watching time. Here are 5 new Netflix originals that could give Frank Underwood a run for his money.

#5
Grace & Frankie

Grace (Jane Fonda) & Frankie (Lily Tomlin) are 2 arch nemesis who’s husbands leave them for each other. Their friendship begins forced and turns into a hilarious back and forth. Imagine a raunchy Golden Girls episode and that’s Grace & Frankie. As far as ‘chick flicks’ go this is definitely on the girlier side of the spectrum but quick witted humor and sarcasm makes for a pretty solid first season. Netflix has yet to announce a second season.

#4
Marco Polo

As Game of Thrones fans we’re all just looking for a way to get from Sunday to Sunday. HBO’s one episode at a time thing is a killer so what better to pass the time than a bingeable show with just as many accents and murderers? Marco Polo (Lorenzo Richelmy) fills the void as it follows the historic explorer through China. The first season is available on Netflix now and it was just renewed for a second 10-episode season set for 2016.

#3
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

This one is for anyone that misses The Office, so everyone. Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper) is rescued from a cult and starts her life over in New York City. You follow Kimmy as she discovers the world through the eyes of a 12 year old in a 25 year old’s body. Dare I say, it’s as funny as The Office and has shades of Leslie Knope from Parks & Rec. Definitely a must see for a great laugh. Currently there’s 1 season available and a second coming in 2016.

#2
Daredevil

Daredevil is arguably Netflix’s best original addition since House of Cards. The first installment in what will be many Marvel adaptations on Netflix, the show follows blind lawyer Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) as he turns into vigilante Daredevil in New York City. No doubt a must-see for comic fans but anyone that enjoys sci-fi and action will like this thriller. Netflix has the entire first season available now with a second coming in 2016.

Bloodline

Every single emotion. That’s what you’re going to feel watching this new Netflix original. The show’s tagline is, ‘We’re not a bad family, we just did a bad thing.’ So yeah, that should give you an idea. Set in Key West surrounding the seemingly perfect Rayburn family (Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, Norbert Leo Butz, Sissy Spacek), the show focuses on the insane past this family has been keeping secret for basically their entire lives. It’s gritty, dark and the character development makes you feel almost as though it’s a true story. Undoubtedly one of the closest competitors to House of Cards, the second season can’t come soon enough (2016).
