Comedian, actor and author Russell Brand will bring his first world stand-up tour to Tampa in September.
The “Messiah Complex” tour is described as a “dissection of various social and religious figures and the reality of their lives through comparisons of each other.” The show, billed for mature audiences, is at 8 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Straz.
Brand’s film credits include “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “Get Him to the Greek” and “Arthur.” He also was tabloid fodder during his 14-month-marriage to pop star Katy Perry.
Brand was on the New York Times best-seller list with “My Booky Wook: A Memoir of Sex, Drugs and Stand-Up.” He followed that with “Booky Wook 2: This Time It’s Personal.”
