If you stayed after the credits of the “Thor: After Dark” movie, you were clued into what Marvel’s big summer project was going to be. The feature trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy” was released on Feb. 18 when the film’s star, Chris Pratt (“Parks and Recreation”), went on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The trailer currently has over 12 million views on YouTube and features the Blue Swede version of the song ‘Hooked on a Feeling’ seamlessly integrated into the action-packed trailer illustrating that the movie will be true to the Marvel algorithm of two parts action to one part sassy comedy. On Wednesday after the premiere of the trailer, “Hooked on a Feeling” got its biggest break since it topped the charts in 1974, when the song got 2,000 digital downloads exceeding it’s typical daily sales by 700 percent. The song has only eight reviews on the iTunes Store–all posted within the last week–and all mention that they were brought to the song because of the Guardians trailer.
Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn and will be released into theaters on August 1.
