World-renowned Chicago chef Charlie Trotter is dead, a source has confirmed to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Trotter, 54, put Chicago on the culinary world map with his Lincoln Park restaurant, which closed in 2012.
911 received a call at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday of an unresponsive man at Trotter’s home on the North Side. Several ambulances and a fire engine responded, with an ambulance taking Trotter to Northwestern Hospital. Attempts to resuscitate Trotter failed. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
There was no immediate information on the cause of death.
