American Horror Story: Coven‘s premiere on Wednesday night broke the FX franchise’s ratings record, bringing in 5.54 million viewers with a 3.0 rating in the demo. That makes it the most-watched telecast ever for Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s anthology series.
Even more impressive? Those numbers are a double-digit gain over the previous record, which was 3.85 million viewers. Plus, the episode, cheekily titled “Bitchcraft,” broke its 18-49 demo record (3.87 million) and its best in the 18-34 demo (2.34 million).
