A woman is dead after a strange crash in the parking lot at Largo Medical Center.
Police say hospital security found 61-year-old Patricia McChesney trapped between her car and a parked car. They believe she somehow sideswiped the car and then got stuck. Mrs. McChesney was possibly trying to get back into her car or catch up to it when she was trapped between her car and another parked car.
Paramedics were not able to save her.
The vehicle was still in drive when paramedics arrived and separated the cars to treat the driver. The driver died as a result of her injuries.
The driver was identified as Patricia McChesney, 61, of Clearwater. She was visiting a patient at the hospital and struck the parked car when she was leaving.
The case is still under investigation and no charges are expected.
To clarify how this occurred, McChesney’s car was driving through the parking lot and not in a parking spot. Her car was perpendicular to the parked cars in the lot. The accident resulted in the drivers side of her car coming to rest against the rear of another car that was properly parked in a spot.
