Woman Arrested After Abusing Children

On May 4th, 2014 Pinellas Park Police officers responded to the 11800 block of 69th Way N in reference to a disturbance. It was reported that a woman was screaming in her backyard and that children were present at the home.

Per the police, five children ran to the front of the home and to the officers on scene. After investigating, Elena Marie Degelormo, W/F, 58 was intoxicated and grilling dinner while the children were playing in the pool. An unknown incident occurred and Degelormo got angry and slapped a neighbor’s child. Then Degelormo poked one of the children who was in her care with a BBQ fork and also scratched the child’s left shoulder.

According to the other children, Degelormo twisted the 7 year old child’s nipple area causing the area to turn red. The other children said Degelormo also bit the child on his arm.

Degelormo is the guardian of five children ages 13-w/f, 12- w/f, 11-w/f, 10-w/m, and 7-w/m the victim. The children were released to a relative and the Department of Children and Families was notified. Degelormo was arrested for Child Abuse and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

The victim’s physical injuries were limited to minor scratches.

She was released on Monday at 8:04pm on $2,500 bond.
