A truck driver was injured and two horses died in a collision early Tuesday, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
According to an FHP release, Matthew Rooney, 57, was driving an International semi and trailer west on Clark Road near Saddle Creek Trail at about 3:40 a.m. when several horses that escaped from a nearby farm ran into the road. Rooney could not avoid two horses and collided with them, killing them, the report said. After the collision the truck ran off the road, jack-knifing into a fence and trees.
