On April 15th at 1:41 AM, a vehicle was traveling northbound on US-301. A pedestrian, 24 year-old Anthony James Giffin from Apollo Beach, for unknown reasons, was laying in the northbound lane of US-301 just south of Stanford Road.
As a result, the front of the vehicle, driver’s name unknown, struck the pedestrian who sustained fatal injuries and expired at the scene of the crash. Alcohol was believed to be involved.
The vehicle failed to stop and continued northbound on US-301. Car parts found at the scene of the crash are consistent with a white Chrysler PT cruiser, 2006-2009 model year. The vehicle would have sustained damage to the lower front bumper cover and would be missing part of the inner wheel liner on one of the wheels.
