Donald Trump, the GOP presidential front runner is once again in the eye of a controversy. Comments that he made about abortion in an interview with MSNBC host Chris Mathews that was done on the campaign trail in Green Bay has Republicans, Democrats, Republicans, pro-life and pro-choice supporters in a frenzy.
This quote from an interview the hour long interview came when Mathews asked Trump if a woman should be punished if abortions were to become illiegal.
“There has to be some form of punishment” if abortion is ruled illegal in the future, said Donald Trump during an MSNBC interview Wednesday night.
“For the woman?” asked interviewer Chris Matthews?
“Yes, there has to be some form,” replied Trump.
Q: “You say you want to ban it, what’s that mean?”
Trump: “I am pro-life, yes.”
Q: “How do you ban abortion; how do you do it?”
Trump: “You go back to a position like they had where people will perhaps go to illegal places, but you have to ban it.”
Meanwhile, the front runner knew that he made a mistake and within an hour Trump was walking it all back, saying in a statement that if abortion were to become illegal, he would punish the doctors for the violation, not the patient.
In a Marquette University Law School poll that came out yesterday showed that Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has a ten-point lead over Trump in the latest Wisconsin poll.
The key in this case he will likely lose Wisconsin in large part because of Cruz support from the popular Gov. Scott Walker, who has an 80% approval rating among Republicans in the state. But in key states in the east, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and California all show Trump with large leads in the polls.
