NRA Bullies Try to Dictate “Florida Live” Content

NRA – The National Rifle Association asked to join Florida Live with Dan Maduri after they heard an interview with Dan Gross, the President of The Brady Campaign. After the Gross interview, Florida Live, wanted the NRA’s side and they were welcomed on.

Since the interview they have been calling the station, emailing/calling producers and asking for the host’s information so they can reach out directly to change the interview posting. Other than rewriting the headline, making changes to the about 200 word lead in to the interview and changing the images associated with the post, the NRA thought the post was fine.

Is being a member of the NRA now a stigma? The money that members are giving them is going to bullying and harassment. I’m not a maniac that is saying take away all the guns. Asking for the disarmament of America. I’m just asking questions that anyone with half a brain would ask. Why not have background checks that would keep guns out of the hands of mentally insane people?

It seems to me that the NRA is not about stoping mass shootings. They are about the public perception of the gun. They are in the promotion of guns.

And they way they viewed Sandy Hook Elementary school where 20 children died and 6 teachers; “If you can kill kids and nothing changes. Nothing will ever change.”

Sandy Hook was viewed as a major victory for the NRA because nothing changed in Washington. Callers into Florida Live have some solutions.

I refuse to believe that a country as innovative, creative and powerful as America has to just accept that mass shootings are a way of life. There are solutions to the problem and our lawmakers need to stand up to the NRA and their money for the betterment of America.
