Government Might Shut Down Again

While the bipartisan budget deal signed earlier this week by President Obama set the overall limits for government spending, it did not address the levels of spending for the various federal agencies. Also, this is where the next battle looms.

Newly installed House Speaker Paul Ryan says Republicans will be going on “offense,” reiterating that the power of the purse lies with the legislative branch, and that they fully expect to exercise that power.

Things like does the agency that gives to Planned Parenthood get less, and the Highway Trust fund get more? There needs to be agreement by December 11, or guess what? That’s right. A government shutdown.
