Congress Returns To Several Weighty Issues

September should be interesting. It appears the GOP-controlled Congress will fail in derailing the Obama administration’s Iran nuke deal. On several other matters, lawmakers will probably have much more impact. The weighty list of unfinished business and deadlines includes a stopgap spending bill to keep the government running past September 30.

Then you have that whole sequester thing coming up again, with punishing cuts should deals not be worked out regarding agency budgets and a long-sought highway bill.

Oh, let’s not forget another debt ceiling raise. But first, get ready to listen to razor sharp rhetoric regarding the Iran deal before that vote comes up, and don’t forget that visit from Pope Francis.
