Hillary Clinton has double-digit leads in Virginia and Texas ahead of the state’s Super Tuesday primary, a new Monmouth University poll shows. She is expected to win Saturday in South Carolina and then is favored in most polls in at least 9 of the 11 Super Tuesday states.
In Virginia, Clinton leads Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) 60 percent to 33 percent, winning with male, female, white and black voters. While in the delegate rich state of Texas, it looks like she beats Sanders 64 to 30, in the Lone Star State. This year, 11 states will be voting on Super Tuesday, plus American Samoa and Democrats living abroad.
All told, there will be 974 delegates at stake in the Democratic contest, or 40 percent of the 2,383 a candidate needs to secure the nomination. As we told you Clinton is the prohibitive favorite in Texas with its 252 delegates and also looks to pickup the 110 in Virginia.
Georgia should also be in the Clinton win column with 116. The other big prize that day is in Sanders backyard of Massachusetts with 116 where he looks like a winner. He will also get his home state of Vermont and is favored to win in Oklahoma and Colorado.
