Are The GOP Establishment Treating Trump Fairly?

Well the Republican establishment is pulling out all the stops to keep GOP frontrunner Donald Trump from winning their party’s nomination. The goal is to keep him from getting a majority of delegates before the primary season ends, then deal with the issue at their Republican Convention July 18-21st in Cleveland.

Today, Mitt Romney, the man who lost to John McCain in 2008 campaign and then to President Barack Obama in 2016 is on the attack making the case why Trump has to be stopped. There are donors throughout the country pouring money into ads that attack Trump on television as well as online.

Trump has beaten every Republican challenger fair and square so far in the 2016 race to the GOP nomination. He has won Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Nevada, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia. He has won 319 delegates of the 1,237 needed to win that aforementioned nomination.

Nothing the establishment Republican candidates have done has thus far done anything to stop Trump. As a mater of fact Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, the so called “Establishment Candidate,” owns just one win, the Minnesota caucus.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz another GOP outsider is the only other candidate to at least challenge Trump thus far. He has wins in Alaska, Iowa, Oklahoma and Texas. Cruz has not been embraced by the establishment and is clearly being rebuffed key members of the GOP party.

March 5th there will be races in Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana and Maine all where Trump has double digit leads in the polls. Then comes March 8th where Hawaii, Idaho, Michigan and Mississippi. Again in those states Trump is the frontrunner in all of polls by double digits.

The GOP establishment has until March 15th when Florida and Ohio hold their winner takes all primaries. If Trump wins Florida as is expected then there is a very good chance he will have the votes to pass that 50% of the delegates. The establishment’s only scenario to stop Trump is if none of the candidates reach the delegate threshold and there is a brokered convention in July.

Exactly what this would entail, and who would emerge as the winner is totally clear. But right now it is Trump vs. the GOP establishment as they do every last thing they can stop the momentum. But if Trump keeps on a roll then they can’t stop him from being the nominee.
