Romney, Santorum in Narrow Iowa Vote

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Both sides are acting like it was a win. Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum have wound up in a virtual dead heat in the Iowa caucuses.

It’s still not possible to say which candidate wound up with more votes as the last few votes are counted. They were never separated by more than dozens of votes.

Santorum spoke first to his supporters, shouting “Game on!” as he took the stage to cheers. Santorum had a late surge from the bottom tier.

Mitt Romney congratulated Santorum but said the results were a win for both campaigns. Romney focused his remarks on President Barack Obama, accusing him of mismanaging foreign policy, the economy and the federal deficit.

Texas Congressman Ron Paul finished third. Newt Gingrich finished fourth. Rick Perry says he’ll return to Texas to reassess his bid. And despite finishing even farther behind, Michelle Bachmann said she’s still in.
