Obama Meets With CEO’s, Pledges To Work With GOP

President Obama said Wednesday that while Republicans prepare to take control of the Senate, there are potential areas of bipartisan compromise that range from infrastructure to free trade. In the short term, the president told the Business Roundtable that he is confident the current Congress will avoid a government shutdown by passing a new spending bill before the current one expires on Dec. 11th.

Meanwhile, in a defiant challenge to GOP leaders, immigration hardliners in Congress announced plans Wednesday to oppose legislation to keep the government running past next week. They said they could not lend their support without specific provisions to stop President Obama’s executive actions that grant a reprieve from deportation for millions.
