LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Mayor-elect Eric Garcetti says he’s going to focus like a “laser beam” on the economy when he takes office July 1.
Garcetti spoke Wednesday with reporters the day after he defeated city Controller Wendy Greuel (grool) by a 54 percent to 46 percent margin.
Garcetti had criticized Greuel for her ties to the powerful Department of Water and Power. He says voters recognized the importance of an independent mayoralty.
Garcetti also says he wants to make the city more responsive to basic needs such as paving streets and fixing sidewalks.
Thank you Los Angeles–the hard work begins but I am honored to lead this city for the next four years. Let’s make this a great city again.
