Ted Cruz Invokes “Hoosiers” Movie to Save Mathematically EliminaTED Campaign

INDIANA – Ted Cruz – as we all know – has an unfortunate face. Last night, he had some unfortunate results and the GOP primary is as Donald Trump swept every single one. And now, in Indiana, the state he hopes will save his candidacy, he spoke some unfortunate words.

He was trying to whip up support by making a reference to the movie “Hoosiers”. Remember the scene where Gene Hackman says that the basketball hoop in the gym of the small, plucky high school team in that movie is the same height as the one in the big city opponents that they are playing? Well he was trying to use that as a metaphor for his own candidacy. But instead he completely bungled it, and referred to the basketball hoop as a “basketball ring”. The only more awkward candidate in this race is Hillary Clinton…

Ted Cruz – like Jeb Bush before him – is a wonk. Nothing more. Nothing less. He thought for one brief and shining moment when the Republican establishment turned to him as an alternative to Donald Trump, that he might be the Republican nominee. But that moment has passed. He should go back to being a wonk. He should go back to the Senate.
