IOC Won’t Interfere With Russia’s Olympic Ban

Last week, the IAAF upheld their ban on Russian track & field athletes competing, effectively banning them from participating in the Summer Games in Rio. On Tuesday, the IOC basically said they would not interfere with the ban. But then they added that there could be a way for those on the Russian team, to individually submit to more stringent and independent testing, to still possible compete in the Olympics.

Then the IOC called for more enhanced drug testing, inferring it would lead to even more athletes being banned. Then the head of the Russian Olympic Committee said he was pulling his entire team out of Rio. But even later, Russia then asked for the IOC to clarify how some track & field athletes could still compete. Yes, the world is pretty much totally confused at this point, and we hand it over to Tom to explain everything Thursday morning.
