The German government asked a top American intelligence official at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin to leave the country over allegations that the U.S. has been spying on one of its strongest allies.
It was the second incident in the last year in which Germany has accused the U.S. of surveillance, some of which had been revealed thanks to former U.S. intelligence contractor Edward Snowden.
