TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ The 56 delegations traveling to Tampa for the Republican National Convention in August have been assigned hotels throughout the Tampa Bay area.
The convention’s committee on arrangements said Monday that 16,000 rooms at about 100 hotels have been reserved for the Aug. 27-30 event.
Official delegations from 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories will stay in 36 different hotels.
The rest of the rooms are reserved for party officials, visitors and media.
The delegations will be spread out from downtown Tampa to the St. Petersburg and Clearwater beaches.
Organizers are chartering 300 buses to shuttle delegates, media and other guests from their hotels to the Tampa Bay Times Forum, where the convention will take place, and to the Tampa Convention Center, where the media will work.
